If you’re wondering how to plan a summer elopement in Florida, you’re not alone. Summer here is slow, warm, and a little unpredictable. But it can also be incredibly fun & exciting. We’re known for our beaches and lush greenery. And the afternoon rain that feels sweeping and romantic (or at least I think so!)

If you’re the kind of couple who really prioritizes connection (instead of performance), and want a gorgeous place to elope: summer in FL might actually be your season.
But eloping here in the Summer doesn’t always mean it’s a walk in the park, there are definitely logistics to navigate. Lucky for you, I’ve been a Florida wedding photographer for over a decade and I can help you navigate every obstacle. And think through logistics you didn’t even know were important.
Let’s start with the truth about Summer rain
Here’s what I want you to know: it will probably rain.
But here’s what people don’t tell you. Summer rain in Florida is usually fast. A quick afternoon shower. Then it clears. The sky glows.

Everything feels fresh. It’s kind of a little reset we experience in the afternoons.
And it cools the air down for a bit, which can be really nice in the heat.
So here’s my advice: instead of fighting it, plan around it. Morning ceremonies are peaceful and cooler. Sunset ceremonies often follow that dreamy post-rain light. Build-in breathing room, so weather does not feel like a threat. I can help you do that, because I help my couples with their timelines for every elopement.
This allows you to have predictability while remaining flexible.
A little flexibility changes everything.

Okay now let’s chat about the best places for a Summer elopement...
Knowing the busy seasons and locations here in Florida is really key to setting yourself up for success when planning your big day.
So here’s the quick rundown to keep in mind from a local!
More crowded in summer:
Popular beaches in 30A
Key West’s main tourist areas
Popular Springs in North Florida
Quieter options in Summer:
State parks with shaded trails
Private beach access homes
Hidden corners along the Gulf Coast
Pro tip? Early weekday mornings are your best friend.

You get space to yourselves and don’t have to worry about the crowds. Get married on a Tuesday, fly out for your honeymoon on Wednesday and skip all the weekend insanity.
If you’re trying to decide how to plan a summer elopement in Florida: location and timing matter more than almost anything else.
Another thing to note? Plan for rest, not rushing.
Summer heat is real. So build your day around comfort.
One of my favorite ideas is splitting coverage.
Start with a sunrise ceremony either by yourself, or with your close friends. Then break for the hottest part of the day. Take a nap in a hammock or jump in the pool. Share takeout in your Airbnb.

Then we meet back up for sunset portraits. Maybe a small party on the beach or in the backyard.
Your day does not have to run on a tight timeline. That’s the fun in eloping! It gives you permission to move slowly. To breathe. To actually feel what’s happening. That’s a win in my book.
Keep it personal throughout your day:
The couples I work with are not trying to impress anyone. They want something steady. Intentional. Honest.

You write your own private vows. Bring your dog. Invite two close friends. Or invite no one. Wear linen. Go barefoot. Do whatever feels easy & natural to you.
When people search for how to plan a summer elopement in Florida, they’re usually looking for logistics. But what they really want is reassurance.
So let me offer you this: you are allowed to do this your way.
And that’s coming from someone who has been photographing weddings for 14 years. I promise, the best days are the ones that are solely focused on you as a couple.
